1．Always keep your T&E policies fresh, renew them frequently to be in line with company latest strategy, organization and actions. You may have a more cost effective list of hotels but people are not aware of.
2．Budget remains a good guide or reference, but it needs to be rolled over and reflect latest performance and market conditions. In a down side market, spending needs to be more carefully reviewed.
3．Control over T&E needs to be top-down but we shall deliver the right message to the organization. Remember very few people are willing to actively control the costs. Bonus, rewards on good achievements of T&E control can encourage the process.
4．My view is not to control the cost, not to cut the cost, but we shall improve travel performance, cutting waste during travel. A preparation list may help before you start your travel, listing down all you are to do and what to be expected from the travel.
